Creative Space

I am usually the last to catch up on reading a new good book and this is one of them. In her book, Where Women Create, Jo Packum interviews and photographs the creative spaces of 26 different women. The creative spaces in the book are sure to imspire and vary from small nooks to large rooms. After reading the book I have informed my family that henceforth my creative space would be called the studio...... instead of the study... now I need to commence creating !

Here are a couple of shots of my STUDIO

You can see in the first shot the studio houses my piano from childhood and my books and momentos. The second photo is shot to show the opposite side of my room ... the desk was my moms. Bad lighting today... the walls are much lighter .... all in all it is a work in progress, but a great place for this woman to create.

This is the second time I have seen this book mentioned. Considering the soon to happen resurrection of my own workspace, this looks like it might be a valuable investmetn.

Such a beautiful space! I want to visit. And we have some of the same pottery. Where Women Create is one of my favourite books. I stare at the photos and wonder when will I ever have a true space of my own, where I can shut the door and no one bothers me. I am so tempted to take over the second bedroom, but then where would guests sleep - okay, making it a creative space would be a good excuse not to have overnight guests, but where would our children sleep (my daughter and David's daughter and son who visit)? xo
