For the Love of McCoy

The Nelson McCoy company began manufacuring clay pottery in the Roseville area of Ohio around 1910. Mccoy pottery covered a realm of uses from functional jars to sophisticated vases and jardinieres. There is something about old McCoy pottery that makes me swoon, especially pieces in the old creamy white matte finish. Through the years I have collected a few uh I mean several.. NO... way too many pieces. You probably caught a glimpse of my McCoy in my creative space shot.

I also have a few pieces under the sideboard on the sun porch

On my desk

On my dressing table

And a token seaglass green piece in the kitchen

What do you think ?? Do I have too many ??? Can a girl really have too many things she loves ???

I love McCoy but don't know too much about it. I bought a piece-a cookie jar-the lid was broken so I got rid of the lid and used it for a utensil holder next to my stove for years. When we moved recently we did an enormous amount of editing-and when we got to the McCoy piece DH tells me not to put in in the Goodwill box because it's McCoy-very important, he says-so now it's at our new home in the back of a cupboard. So I have a McCoy in hiding! Love your collection! Bronwen

White is a great color to collect! You will never tire of them. I can think of so many places to use them (I think you've beat me to a couple!)

I really think that these are very beautiful. Very chic! And I love your sideboard, too! It looks like you have so much stuff because they would look so beautiful on the sideboard but then what to do with the dishes!

No! You can never have too much McCoy! I collect it too, in the creamy white matte finish, as well as the green (leaves and berries pattern. I don't have as many pieces as you, but I am mad about McCoy and Nelson McCoy pottery. I have the same piece that you have scissors in, in a pale aqua. It has a hairline crack, but I love it! If I were living in the US with access to more flea markets, tag sales, etc., you can bet I'd have more McCoy! You have a lovely collection.

Clever how you took us around your new home and showed us the corners where you have placed your loved objects.

I love several of the different Ohio potteries, but McCoy is my favorite. I'm fond of the cream color also. Your collection is wonderful and I am seriously coveting the piece your scissors are in ;-)
